SCHOLARSHIPS

What sculpture is to a block of marble, education is to the human soul.

Do you know someone who needs help affording education?

We provide financial assistance through academic scholarship grants.

College Scholarships

The good people at Par Mar Stores have for many years focused their charitable giving on college scholarships. That tradition continues and we are proud to work together to improve educational opportunity. Every spring (February – April) high school seniors and other applicants enrolling in or continuing attendance at a college, university, trade or technical schools while earning a degree or certificate are invited to apply for a Par Mar Scholars grant.

The Scholarship Program
Ritton Family Foundation and Par Mar Stores are proud to offer a scholarship program designed to assist students in our communities. Multiple scholarships are awarded each year to students seeking to further their education. Scholarship may be awarded for up to four years of study. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Eligibility
Applicants that reside in Appalachia Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland or Kentucky are eligible. High school seniors enrolling in, and students continuing attendance at, college, university, trade school or technical program, full-time while earning a degree or certificate, are encouraged to apply.

Applications
Applications will be received until April 30 of each year. Applicants may apply online or by completing and mailing in a paper application. Applications may be copied and distributed to students living in the eligibility areas. Awards will be announced in late May each year.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, community involvement, school activities, honors, work experience, statement of career goals and financial need. Ritton Family Foundation and Par Mar Stores’ Scholarship committee will select the recipients.

Scholarship Awards
Ritton Family Foundation will pay scholarship awards by August 30th. A check will be mailed to the recipient’s home address and will be made payable jointly to the recipient and the school. The check must be endorsed by both the recipient and the school.

Every child, regardless of their status or where they live, should be able to pursue continuing education after high school.

There is nothing in this world but lives by giving.

There is not a flower that blooms but its very sweetness lies in it shedding its fragrance on the air.  All the rivers run into the sea, the sea feeds the clouds, the clouds empty out their treasures, the earth gives back the rain in fertility, and so it is an endless chain of giving generosity.  Generosity reigns supreme in nature.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP?

If a man empties his purse into his head, no man can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.

Neither piety, virtue, nor liberty can long flourish in a community where the education of youth is neglected.
